Terms & Conditions

Effective Date: October 2026

1. Introduction & Company Status

These Terms and Conditions govern all purchases of symbolic lobster sponsorships made through this website. By purchasing a sponsorship, you enter into a legally binding contract with Release a Lobster Limited (Company Registration No. 17523183), Bartle House, 9 Oxford Court, Manchester, England, M2 3WQ (Email: info@releasealobster.co.uk).

2. Nature of the Sponsorship Service

Sponsorship represents a symbolic conservation and marine stewardship service. Purchasing a sponsorship funds the commercial buy-back of live inshore lobsters from licenced British day-boat potters, the statutory application of a conservation V-notch to the tail flipper under applicable UK fisheries orders, and the return of the lobster to native seabed reefs.

No Ownership or Physical Delivery: A sponsorship does not confer legal ownership, title, physical custody, or property rights over any wild marine creature. Lobsters remain wild animals under statutory protection in open UK waters.

3. Deliverables & Verification

Upon completed payment, sponsors are entitled to:

  • A digital certificate ("Freedom Deed") confirming the dedicated lobster name and conservation tier.
  • Release verification recorded via video, GPS coordinate plot, or photographic documentation logged through our public social media and Instagram channels.

4. Weather & Maritime Contingency

Releases are strictly dependent on commercial vessel operations, tidal conditions, and maritime safety. If adverse weather, seasonal sea conditions, or potting schedules cause temporary delays, the release will be carried out at the earliest safe operational opportunity. Delays resulting from maritime safety precautions do not constitute a failure or breach of service.

5. Statutory Cancellation & Refund Rights

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, consumers generally have a 14-day statutory cooling-off period for online distance contracts.

Express Request for Immediate Performance: By completing your purchase, you expressly request that Release a Lobster Limited commences the provision of the conservation service immediately (including entering into commitments with commercial skippers and scheduling boat releases).

In accordance with Regulation 36 of the Consumer Contracts Regulations, once a lobster has been notched and returned to the sea, the service has been fully performed, and your statutory right of cancellation ceases. If you wish to cancel an order prior to the lobster being notched or released, you may do so by contacting info@releasealobster.co.uk, and a full refund will be processed via Stripe.

6. Payments & Security

All transactions are processed securely through our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store financial card data. Prices are listed in Pounds Sterling (GBP) and are inclusive of all applicable costs.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by English law, Release a Lobster Limited shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total aggregate liability under any sponsorship agreement shall not exceed the total price paid for the respective sponsorship tier.

8. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
